The 4 Site Security Health and Safety Committee was created with a clear mission: to build a strong, proactive safety culture and demonstrate to our colleagues and clients that safety is a top priority across everything we do.
How the Committee works
The committee brings together site leads across the business in regular online meetings to focus on and discuss Health and Safety in an open, honest, and transparent environment. It provides a collaborative platform to review:
- what happened during recent incidents
- what resolutions have been put in place
- key learnings and takeaways to prevent future issues
Importantly, this process encourages colleagues to actively think about safety every day, and gives our front-line staff a vital, direct, and impactful voice.
Driven by real-life experiences
Supported by front line team members all the way up to senior management, the committee meets with a dedicated topic and agenda around real Health and Safety scenarios.
Discussions are pulled from incidents on our sites and cover:
- near misses and reporting trends
- best practice and tasks done well
- control measures implemented across sites
Managed by Richard Grundy, Senior Operations Manager, and Charlotte King, Compliance Officer, and attended also by our Managing Director Ashley Kirk, insights from the committee are heard and acted upon at the highest levels of the business.
Making a positive impact
Over the last 12 months, focusing closely on near miss reporting has significantly increased overall reporting rates, creating stronger opportunities to anticipate and prevent accidents. Being an active and central part of the committee ensures that our front-line colleagues feel listened to and valued, while providing the vital information needed to proactively discuss safety with our clients.
