Our very own Operations Manager Richard Grundy recently put on his marshal’s bib to help out at the inaugural official Rob Burrow Mini Marathon. This fantastic event saw around 1000 participants take to Beckett's Park Leeds University Campus, all in a fitting tribute to the former Leeds Rhinos player, Rob Burrow.

Rob was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) in late 2019, and since then, he and his family have campaigned tirelessly to raise awareness and vital funds to support other families affected by this challenging disease.

Richard, along with another dedicated volunteer, was right in the thick of it as a marshal. His day was packed! He was busy making sure people didn't wander onto the course, directing runners, flagging any issues or medical problems to the Track Control Team, helping out with any children who had sprinted ahead of their parents, and most importantly, cheering everyone on.

This isn't Richard's first time supporting the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon. He marshalled at last year's event too, and it's a cause that's clearly very close to his heart due to a family link with MND. Richard explained: "It was inspiring and moving to see my wife, two daughters,  nieces and sisters-in-law complete the run. I was also very excited to see the great Kevin Sinfield, former professional rugby league player for Leeds Rhinos, England and Great Britain, at the race.”

A huge well done to Richard for his dedication and for being such a great ambassador for 4 Site Security. It's fantastic to see our colleagues making such a positive impact in the community.
