At 4 Site Security we believe in - and encourage - forging strong relationships with our communities by getting involved in activities that support social responsibility.
This is exactly what our colleagues Security Officer Nazam Ahmed and Security Services Operations Manager Mark Wilson recently demonstrated in their interactions with Lilycroft Primary School in Bradford. And it is clear that our 4 Site Security colleagues, the pupils and the school all greatly benefited from this positive experience.
Nazam and Mark spent the day at the School’s Careers Fair and led a range of activities to show the children what it’s like to work as a security guard. They used two- way radio to enable the pupils to understand how security officers communicate with each other when passing on relevant or urgent information following an incident; pupils were shown how events are recorded in the daily occurrence record book and were given the opportunity to try this themselves. Detail and accuracy and were rewarded with 4 Site Security pens.
After the event, one of the Year 5 pupils Amira said: "I never knew security was so interesting! I learned how to stay safe and how to keep an eye on others in real life. It was
more complicated than I thought. Maybe I'll be a security expert when I grow up!"
“As well as seeing the children’s enjoyment of the activities and the skills and understanding they acquired throughout the day, Nazam felt that he had personally got such a lot out of giving his time. He commented: “I feel it is valuable for young pupils to learn about how the role of a security guard is solely to protect people, property and keep valuable assets secure and safe. Our role involves mitigating risks and preventing incidents from occurring to serve and protect the community which is important for our future generations to understand. I found this experience extremely rewarding knowing we inspired and had a huge impact on being a positive role model for those who were interested in this role.”
Since the careers event, Nazam returned to the school for a follow-up session with two Year 5 classes where the qualities of a security guard and all aspects of the role were explained in detail and questions from the pupils were answered.
The Head Teacher from Lilycroft Primary summed up the benefits of the day: "Mark and his team engaged wonderfully with all our pupils, from Reception to Year 6. They provided valuable insights into the security profession and shared important messages about personal safety. The children were captivated by the interactive demonstrations and practical advice on staying safe. The 4site Security team's ability to connect with children of all ages and convey complex ideas in an accessible way was impressive. Their participation significantly enhanced our careers education programme, giving our pupils a broader understanding of potential future careers and the importance of safety in our community.”
Huge thanks go to Nazam and to Mark and we look forward to seeing future collaboration with the school.
