Faye joined our accounts team in December 2022. Her job entails running the purchase ledger, credit control, reconciling bank accounts, paying suppliers and uploading invoices. “Some days can be hectic, as is end of month reconciliation, while other days can be steady,” explains Faye, “but everything has to be in order and fit together like a cog.”
While Faye explains her daily tasks, the importance of these is very clear: she has a responsibility for maintaining a strong business cash flow. As VAT and PAYE are also encompassed in her role, she needs to be “eagle-eyed and conscientious”.
“It’s so important that these things are right,” says Faye, “as it helps to build trust in our business.”
She enjoys the very organised, but very relaxed environment, that she works in with her team. “This comes from everyone knowing their role, being accountable, and supporting each other. It makes my job easier.”
As a single mum to three children, Faye’s life outside of work also runs like clockwork: up at 5 am, gym at 6, back to get the kids up at 7, and out to school at 7.45! And then there are the dance festivals and events her daughters take part in and her son’s sporting activities to factor in at weekends.
In her spare time, she likes to out with friends for a meal and she confesses to relaxing on the sofa with a box set and grunting at the children on a Sunday.
We asked Faye: What do you do to relieve stress and support good mental health?
She said: “Going to the gym supports my mental health in my very busy life. I describe it as my church and it gives me mental clarity and sets me up for the day.”
