Tom Langford joined our head office team in mid-March as our new Security Sales Executive. We sat down with Tom to find out exactly what makes him tick, both in his professional role and his life outside the office.

Tom's journey to 4 Site Security is a fascinating one. He studied music production at the University of Leeds and, like many graduates, left university not entirely sure which career path he wanted to tread. While figuring things out, he took a job working in a pub.

It was during this formative time that Tom realised sales could offer a lucrative and rewarding career path. He spent the next three years honing his skills in cybersecurity sales. Ready for a fresh change, he spotted the opening at 4 Site Security, and the role immediately appealed to him.

The turning point came during his interview process: "I liked the vibe of the place compared to other places where I had been for an interview."

Meeting with Business Development Manager Nathan Goffin and our Managing Director Ashley, Tom felt an immediate, strong synergy with the people and the company culture.

As a core part of his daily routine, Tom starts by managing his email communications before hitting the phones to connect with prospective clients and bring in new business.

Far from relying on old-school cold-calling guesswork, Tom works at his best by taking a highly targeted, strategic approach. His tel sales process is data-driven, utilising CRM software, call metrics, and smart analytics.

When it comes to the unavoidable "nos" of telesales, Tom takes it all in his stride:

"In telesales, you have to accept that rejection is just a standard part of the job; it's not personal. My manager Nathan Goffin and I work with the mindset that sales is a drip process of building long-term relationships, establishing deep trust, and creating genuine partnerships. Potential clients dislike aggressive sales pitches, but if you take the time to discover exactly what they need and how you can genuinely help them, they are much more open to buying. At the end of the day, people remember positive, enjoyable conversations on the phone."

Tom says that his number one motivation is positive feedback from people and that he is highly motivated by doing a great job.

We asked Tom to give us three words to "sell himself" to the outside world, and his answer was simple: “energetic, friendly, and happy”. His manager, Nathan, completely agrees: “Tom is a fantastic addition to our sales operation. Since joining us, Tom has proven to be exceptionally professional and has already achieved some fantastic results. Tom is an absolute pleasure to work alongside, and I look forward to him developing and furthering his career with the 4 Site Business Development Team." Nathan Goffin, Business Development Manager.

When he isn't busy connecting with clients, outside of work, Tom loves socialising and meeting up with his friends. He is also an avid fitness enthusiast, hitting the walls for indoor rock climbing in Manchester an impressive four to five times a week.

We hope you will join us in welcoming Tom to the 4 Site Security family, and we wish him the absolute best of luck as he continues to thrive and further his career with us.
