In January we launched our new Vision and Values to our colleagues on site with a roadshow, and we soft launched these via the last 4 Site Security newsletter, a new video, the company website, and our social media channels. For some weeks before the launch, much hard work had been undertaken to develop the Vision and Values statements and prepare for the launch. Here our Managing Director, Ashley Kirk, tells us why he believes that the Vision and Values are such a worthwhile investment and why they are so vital in business:

“I’ve always believed that having strong and clearly defined Vision and Values at the heart of any business is crucial for its development and achieving successful outcomes.

Often businesses measure success through the end results such as KPIs, audits and SLAs. And, of course, having a happy client and being able to demonstrate that you are providing them with a great service is so important. However, sometimes this focus can be a distraction from the fact that delighting the client comes from the motivation, commitment and development of the people delivering the service.

The Vision and Values enable us to benchmark company standards and to self-appreciate whether we are doing the best job possible for our people and colleagues in order to create the optimum outcome for our clients.

The professional ability of a colleague is important for doing good work but attitude is also key. If you have the right attitude and values, you will do the best you can for yourself, for the business, and for the client. This is because you will be more likely to develop and reach your full potential. When you understand what the organisation stands for and feel aligned with its values, it gives you the opportunity to be more committed to your role, dedicated to the business and to know where both you and the company are heading.

Also, outside of work we all have a life which inevitably comes with a variety of experiences, including stresses and problems. The Vision and Values are a way of ensuring that we share a common culture, beliefs and shared behaviours so we treat people in the right way, supporting our colleagues and helping to make sure that people are happy during their time at work.

A strong shared belief, supported by the pillars of the Vision and Values, helps colleagues to work together as a team. Pulling together in the same direction can help to make what might seem unachievable alone possible.

Finally, not all decisions in business are straight forward. Yet, clearly defined Vision and Values can provide the roadmap to make sure that the best possible decisions are built on what the company stands for. This is our ethos at 4 Site Security, as we look to follow the 4 Site Way.”
